The female friends for life are stuck in the worst possible scenario of their lives. Thirty-Nine is the latest Korean drama revolving around the themes of friendship, love & as it focuses on three best friends who have been together for a long time. However, at the age of Thirty-Nine, when things finally seemed to be great for them, destiny had some other plans. It is a series by JTBC Studios and Lotte Cultureworks, alongside director Kim Sang-ho and writer Yoo Yeong-ah. The show stars Son Ye-jin, Jeon Mi-do & Kim Ji-hyun in lead roles with Yeon Woo-jin, Lee Tae-hwan & Lee Moo-saeng in supporting roles.

Thirty-Nine falls under the genre of romantic drama but stands out from the stereotype of romance and comedy. Thirty-Nine Episode 4 Recap

Thirty-Nine Episode 4 was titled “Choice“. This episode starts with Mi-jo and Chan-young at the hospital where they are seen discussing the latter’s health status. The discussion reveals that without treatment Chan-young will be able to live only for six months, however, if she accepts the treatment, she can extend her lifespan to one more year. Mi-jo tries to give her hope and asks her to receive the treatment. However, Chan-young refuses and they both end up fighting at the hospital. Later, the three friends meet at Hyun-joon‘s restaurant to celebrate Joo-hee’s lottery win where Mi-jo finally speaks up the truth.

This episode is yet another highly emotional one where each of the protagonists is seen dealing with the harsh reality. Initially, Mi-jo starts being around Chan-young suffocating the latter. On the other hand, Joo-hee is seen crying alone during her work hours. After a hectic day, Mi-jo finds comfort in Seon-woo as he stays up late in the clinic with her. Mi-jo’s elder sister sees both of them hugging and gets excited and tells her parents about Mi-jo dating a guy. Later on, Mi-jo decides to cancel her stay in the US and spend her sabbatical with Chan-young.

Revealing this decision of hers, Mi-jo explains to her family about Chan-young’s condition and breaks down in their embrace. In the meantime, Jin-seok decides to divorce her wife and reveals his son’s secret to Chan-young. Sadly, Chan-young tells him about her illness which devastates Jin-seok as he cries hard. Throughout the episode, Mi-jo tries to convince Chan-young for her treatment but all efforts go in vain. At last, the three of them decide to do everything they have ever planned and make Chan-young the happiest patient ever.

Thirty-Nine Episode 5: Release Date, Air Time & Spoilers

Thirty-Nine Episode 5 will release on Wednesday, 2nd March 2022 at 10:30 pm KST. It will be titled “Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2“. The episode will give us an insight into the life of Seon-woo as Mi-jo will help him in tackling his personal life issues. Also, how Chan-young’s illness messes with everyone will be an important part.
