Asus launches a range on new ZenBooks; starting at Rs 66,990

Asus launched a range of new Zenbooks, three to be precise, on August 13. The three variants include Zenbook 13, Zenbook S, and Zenbook 15. These ultrabooks first saw the limelight at CES earlier this year. These 3 new ZenBooks start from 13-inch Zenbook 13 at Rs 66,990 and go all the way up to the premium category with the ZenBook Pro 15 at Rs 179,990. Before judging them on the basis of price tags read further to know what’s new.

Zenbook 13 – the cheapest of the new ZenBooks

Starting with the cheapest of three new Zenbooks, the Zenbook 13 is a typical Asus Zenbook – ultra-thin at 13.9mm  and ultra-portable at just 985 grams. One wouldn’t even feel like carrying a full-fledged computer at that weight. But this, by any means, doesn’t mean that the Zenbook 13 is small or fragile.

According to Asus, its ultrabook meets the MIL-STD 810G military standard for reliability and durability. This means even if you drop it, chances weigh on the positive side, that is, it will survive.

Coming to the specifications, the Zenbook 13 features a 13.3-inch Full HD+ display. This display is mounted on a slim-bezel NanoEdge panel. It is powered by the latest of Intel CPUs – 8th generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7. On the storage front, it sports 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of PCIe SSD storage. Plus, thinness doesn’t mean lack of ports here as one gets port options including a USB-C port, two USB Type-A ports, an HDMI port, and a microSD card slot.

The Zenbook 13 is also secured by a fingerprint sensor. There are stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, paired with the company’s SonicMaster technology. The cheapest of the new ZenBooks will be available in two color options – Deep Dive Blue and Rose Gold. Pricing starts at Rs 66,990.

ZenBook S – ErgoLift in the premium segment

One of the most premium ultrabooks from Asus, the ZenBook S is just 12.9mm in thickness. And this is not the highlight as the ZenBook S carries a unique hinge design that lifts the keyboard to a ‘more comfortable typing angle’. This unique life is called “ErgoLift”. It does not only helps with typing but has other practical use as well. It provides a better heat management system by bringing in cool air to the bottom of the laptop.

On the specs front, the ZenBook S features a 13.3-inch LED-backlit Full-HD (3840×2160 pixels) touch display with 5.9mm NanoEdge bezels all around. It is rated at 100% sRGB and 72% NTSC color gamut. Powered by up to 8th gen Intel Core i7 (8550U) processor, the ZenBook S includes 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB of SSD.

This new ZonBook also sports a fingerprint scanner at the top of the trackpad for Windows Hello. Sadly, a discrete graphics card is absent. For being a multimedia powerhouse, the ZenBook S has Harman Kardon-tuned ASUS SonicMaster stereo speakers.

Coming to the battery, it supports fast-charging tech. This means one can charge the battery by up to 60% in around 45 minutes. The Zenbook S too comes with MIL-STD 810G military standard certification and has a brushed metal unibody design. Pricing starts at Rs 129,990.

ZenBook Pro 15 – most innovative of the 3 new ZenBooks

The ZenBook Pro is possibly the most innovative product from Asus. As it does not come with one, but two touchscreens. The Taiwanese tech giant has replaced the traditional trackpad on this ZenBook with a 5.5-inch 108. touchscreen.

In functionality, it is quite similar to Apple MacBook Pro’s touchpad. It is designed to give you instant access to some tools and shortcuts. Plus, there are dedicated ScreenPad apps like a numpad, music player, calculator or calendar. One can also choose to mirror his smartphone to the ScreenPad for multitasking purposes. Asus will soon launch a ScreenPad SDK to further extend its functionality.

Talking about the specifications, it is no less than any other Asus ZenBook. The ZenBook Pro 15 sports a 15.6-inch 4K Ultra-HD display. It will be made available with the latest of Intel chips. the 8th gen Core i5 8300H and Core i9 8950HK will be the only two options available. On the storage front, there is room for up to 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz memory and up to 1TB SSD storage. It also features the Nvidia GTX 1050Ti GPU (4GB RAM).

The ZenBook 15 Pro is one of Asus’ most innovative products. Pricing starts at Rs 179,990. This may seem a very high price point for an i5 ultrabook but Asus has added something new and innovative at least.

All the three models have been made available on e-commerce platforms, LFR stores, and channel partners.
