The much awaited and promoted smartphone of Xiaomi that is Mi 8 has launched today. To celebrate the 8th Anniversary of the company, the event was held in Shenzhen, China. Another versions namely Mi 8 Explorer Edition and Mi 8 SE were also announced today. The feature which separates it from other brand flagship launched this year is dual GPS. This flagship becomes the first Xiaomi smartphone to introduce the inevitable notch on the front top. The device powers Qualcomm Sanpdragon 845 SoC.

The design of the smartphone is glass back with curved edges. The notch incorporates an infrared lens which helps in unlocking the phone in low light surroundings. Also, there is 20-MP lens (f/2.0, 1.8µm)inside the notch used for AI portrait selfies and AI Beautify. The CEO Xiaomi declared the rating given by DxOMark. Xiaomi Mi 8 scores 99 points in comparison to iPhone and Mi Mix 2S who score 97. The AI dual camera setup aligned vertically at the back. First is a 12-MP (f/1.8, 1.4µm) SONY IMX363 primary sensor having dual pixel autofocus, 4-axis OIS and AI screen detection. While secondary sensor is a Samsung S5K3M3 also having 12-MP (f/2.4, 1.0µm). The NFC chip is there with Dual-frequency GPS which allows navigation at ease than earlier.
The phone parades tall 6.21-inch Samsung AMOLED display with aspect ratio of 18.7: 9. The screen resolution bind with the display shows 2248 x 1080 pixels. Talking the internals of the device is Snapdragon 845 fitted with Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU.

Coming to another variant is Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The translucent back device has same features except an in-display fingerprint reader and 3D Face Unlock feature. The price for Explorer Edition having 8GB RAM and 128GB is 3699 Yuan/ 38899 INR.
Another variant launch of the smartphone is Mi 8 SE debuting with Snapdragon 710 SoC. It comes with 5.88-inch AMOLED display showing FHD+ resolution. On the photography level, the handset has 12-MP + 5-MP dual rear camera. Whereas a 20-MP front sensor is available for AI-powered portrait selfie inside the top notch. The octa-core 2.2 GHz processor has Adreno 616 as its GPU which renders 3D graphics. A 3120mAh battery charges the device with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 tech support from USB-C . The expected price for 6GB+ 64GB storage is 1999 Yuan/ 21000 INR.
