Who Is Matt Baker? Matt Baker, the host of Countryfile, has been a familiar face on the BBC for many years, having previously hosted Blue Peter and The One Show. Also, since landing the role as a Blue Peter host, MATT Baker has been a staple of teatime television. He’s back on the box, this time hosting Countryfile. Matt Baker and Alex Jones co-hosted the children’s show, Blue Peter, from 1999 to 2006, the famous BBC One’s Countryfile since 2009, and The One Show from the year 2011 to 2020. Baker aspired to be a physiotherapist, but he didn’t meet the academic requirements. It was suggested that he go to drama school after his performance in the school production of Grease.

Who Is Matt Baker? His Early Life:

Who Is Matt Baker? Baker was welcomed to the world on December 23, 1977, in the village of Easington, County Durham, where his father owned a newsagent’s business, and his parents had a smallholding. He has a half-sister and a sister. Matt went to Easington Village School before his parents acquired a farm west of Durham and refurbished it when he was ten years old. Baker has been a dancer since the age of five and began competing as a gymnast in high school.

He continued his studies at Belmont Comprehensive School in Durham and was a promising gymnast before succumbing to anemia at the age of 14. At Durham Sixth Form Centre, he studied Drama, Biology, and Sports Science for A-levels. Baker successfully worked as an entertainer and with a 1970s comedic disco-dancing revival show called “Disco Inferno” that toured the north of England in the late 1990s while a theatre student at Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh.

Matt joined the Countryfile team in 2009, first as a presenter for Countryfile Summer Diaries on BBC One on weekday mornings before moving on to co-hosting the evening show. He also co-hosted the inaugural season of Julia Bradbury’s Secret Britain and Kate Humble’s One Man And His Dog. From May through August 2010, he worked as a guest host on The One Show, filling in for Jason Manford. He replaced Alex Jones as a permanent co-host. He also contributes to the BBC’s coverage of gymnastics events. Matt’s aunt surprisingly noticed that Blue Peter was looking for a new presenter during his third year of university. Matt, 43, is married to Nicola Mooney, his childhood sweetheart. When Matt was 20 years old, the pair met for the first time 23 years ago. Nicola, who now works as a physiotherapist, is said to have met the former Blue Peter presenter in the 1990s when he was playing in a disco act at Pier 39 in Cleethorpes. Matt has been cheerfully married to his wife Nicola since 2004. After dating for almost about seven years, they married in 2004. Matt told the Express in 2011 that he considers himself “fortunate” to have met his wife before becoming a household celebrity.

Does Matt Baker have children?

Matt is the delighted father of two children. He and his wife have a 14-year-old son named Luke and a 12-year-old daughter named Molly. They like assisting their famous father on their family farm. The singer previously recounted some of his children’s favorite hobbies, such as numbering various sheep with a single can of spray paint and feeding the sheep, in a day in the life journal for Countryfile’s website. Where Does Matt Baker Live?

Matt and his adorable family have their own smallholding in the Chilterns. During lockdown last year, the family did relocate to Matt’s family farm in the Durham Dales when his mother was bowled over by sheep and broke her leg. The Countryfile host jumped in to assist with the farm’s operations. Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales, a Channel 4 show, chronicles the touching journey. Matt has recently released a book called A Year on Our Farm: How the Countryside Made Me, which delves into his Durham roots.
