Lawrence Rudolph, a well-to-do dentist who appeared to have it all, tragically lost his wife, Bianca, while on a hunting trip in October 2016. However, as time passed, authorities continued to uncover evidence that suggested Bianca’s death may not have been an accident at all. ’48 Hours: Death on Safari,’ a CBS News special, examines why the FBI suspected Lawrence of murdering Bianca and how the case has progressed since then. So, if you’re curious about Lawrence’s current location, we’ve got you covered.
Who is Lawrence Rudolph?
Lawrence established and ran the profitable Three Rivers Dental in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He and Bianca had been married for 34 years and had lived in Arizona since 2012. Aside from their dentistry practice, the couple enjoyed big-game hunting in Africa. On October 11, 2016, Bianca was discovered dead from a shotgun gunshot to the chest while at their hunting camp in Zambia, Africa. Lawrence said at the time that it happened by chance because the gun was most likely loaded from the day before.
Lawrence wanted his remains cremated as soon as possible, according to the consular chief of the US Embassy in Zambia. The consular head, on the other hand, thought something was wrong with the circumstances and photographed the dead body. Then he claimed Lawrence was furious when he found out. He went on to say that Lawrence had urged that Bianca commit suicide. His children found out about Bianca’s death only a week later, and other loved ones found out on the day of the funeral, according to the authorities.
The FBI and consulate officials felt the gunfire was not fired at close range. Bianca could have been shot from a distance of 6.5 to 8 feet. “It would be practically impossible to inadvertently discharge this shotgun in its carrying case and generate the entrance flaw noticed on Ms. Rudolph’s body,” a Colorado medical expert said.
In the aftermath of Bianca’s death, Lawrence claimed seven different life insurance policies totaling over $5 million, according to further inquiry. There was also evidence that he had an extramarital romance with Lori Milliron, his former office manager, who was eventually accused in the investigation. In the end, authorities concluded that the murder was motivated by a financial motive and a desire to live with his lover.
Where is Lawrence Rudolph Now?
Lawrence was charged with one count of murdering a US citizen in a foreign country and one count of mail fraud in January 2022. The 67-year-old has pleaded not guilty, and his attorney claims that the federal government is “creating” a case against him. Local police and insurance companies agreed it was an accident, according to the defense attorney.
Lawrence’s counsel indicated that the dentistry practice was a prosperous one when asked about a financial motive. Bianca signed a prenuptial agreement, so he wouldn’t lose money in the event of a divorce, it was also reported. Lawrence was charged in Colorado, which is home to one of the insurance companies. A judge denied Lawrence’s request to live with his daughter in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, at the end of January 2022. Lawrence is now being kept in custody in Denver, Colorado, where the trial will take place. It was decided in April 2022 that he and Lori would stand trial in July of this year.
