Intel 9th gen processors said to launch on October 1

Intel 9th gen processors

The latest of Intel’s processors were launched in August 2017. It’s been well over a year and according to reports, Intel is gearing up to launch their new gen of mainstream processors. Intel 9th gen processors are about to make their debut. The date finalized is October 1. The Intel 9th gen processors are said to sport more cores and faster clocks. They will (supposedly) be based on 114nm process node.

Intel 9th gen processors will launch with their flagship – earlier rumors

If we are to go by the report, the chip-giant will launch the Intel 9th gen processors including their flagship Core i9-9900K model on 1st October. The core i9 will feature 8 cores and 16 thread Chip. There were rumors that Intel is planning to launch their (unlocked) SKU family along with z390 series on 1st October. These gained momentum after the launch of Coffee Lake CPU range. It’s 2018 and rumors today are most likely to be true. The report has put a truth stamp on those rumors.

On 1st October, Intel will unveil all the three unlocked SKUs, namely –

  • Intel Core i9-9900K with 8 core / 16 thread
  • Core i7-9700K with 8 core / 8 thread
  • Intel Core i5-9600K with 6 core / 6 thread

The document claims that Intel will first roll out the unlocked SKUs which would eventually lead to the launch of the Intel 9th gen processors family that will be introduced in the first half of 2019.

Intel Core i9-9900K (8 core / 16 thread)

The Intel Core i9-9900K will be Intel’s first mainstream Core i9 part for any desktop. It will also be the first Intel chip to boast the configuration of 8corres and 16 threads. This Core i9 will feature 16 MB of L3. And it will come with an Intel UHD 620 graphics chip. As for clock speeds (the important part), it will launch with up to 3.6GHz out of the box and 5.0GHz in single and dual core operations.

Intel Core i7-9700K (8 core / 8 thread)

The Intel 9th gen processors will include a Core i7 model which will sport 8 cores and 8 threads. It will have 12 MB of L3 cache.  Yes, the threads are lower than the Core i7-8700K but it will come with a higher core count. Coming to the clock speeds, this chip will have a base clock of 3.6 GHz and boosts up to 4.9 GHz in a single core, 4.8 GHz in dual-core, 4.7 GHz in four core and 4.6 GHz in 6/8 core operations.

i5-9600K (6 core / 6 thread)

Last but not the least, the 9th gen Core i5 processor will be a 6 core and 6 thread CPU. Plus, it will have 9 MB of L3 cache. The clock speeds will be –  3.7 GHz for the base, 4.6 GHz boost for a single core, 4.5 GHz for dual core, 4.4 GHz for 4 cores and 4.3 GHz for 6 cores.

Coming back to the leaks, the roadmap also shows the Basin Falls Refresh platform. It includes a new Core-X range of processors and X299 refresh motherboards which might also be introduced in the same month.

Lastly, rumors also suggest that 28 core processors will be introduced with the premium High-end family on the LGA 3647 socketed platform.
