In a last-ditch effort, the police increased the number of officers assigned to the case and sent Heather’s fingerprint to 52 different jurisdictions in the hopes of finding a match. Surprisingly, their efforts were rewarded when the print was identified as belonging to Robert Charles Browne, who lived about half a mile away from the victim’s home.
