Ben Affleck Will NOT Feature in Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman and other prominent actors are anticipated to reprise their legendary superhero roles in the upcoming “Deadpool 3.” For months, there have been persistent speculations that Ben Affleck, who played Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the first two films, will be one of the returning actors in the third. However, it turns out that the reports about the ‘Argo’ actor returning as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen were unfounded, as Cinemaholic has learned that Ben Affleck won’t appear in ‘Deadpool 3’ after all.

Affleck first wore the recognizable Man Without Fear outfit in Mark Steven Johnson’s 2003 picture “Daredevil.” Although it was distributed by 20th Century Fox, the movie received unfavorable reviews from critics and underperformed at the box office. Elektra Natchios, played by actress Jennifer Garner, is another new character introduced in the movie. eventually, Garner returned to the part in the Rob Bowman-directed spinoff movie “Elektra” from 2005, in which Affleck also appeared briefly but was eventually cut from the final cut.

Unlike Affleck’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Elektra Natchios from “Deadpool 3” has been officially confirmed to make an appearance. The official announcement of the actress’ participation in the film came in July 2023. There is no word on whether Garner would portray the same version of the character as in the 20th Century Fox movies, though. Garner’s involvement in the project, however, only fueled the long-running rumors that Affleck would return to playing Daredevil, a role that has recently grown much more iconic on screen thanks to Charlie Cox’s portrayal of the character in the television series “Daredevil” and other MCU projects.

Affleck’s run as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the DCEU is apparently coming to an end with a cameo in ‘The Flash,’ as the series is getting a major makeover. As a result, it seemed appropriate for Affleck to reprise his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil from the 2003 movie and return to the Marvel universe. Now, though, it appears that appearance won’t actually happen. However, there may be opportunity for Affleck to come back in the future given that Phase Six of the MCU will center on the Multiverse Saga.

Ryan Reynolds returns as Wade Wilson/Deadpool in “Deadpool 3,” and Hugh Jackman as James “Logan” Howlett/Wolverine. Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, and Stefan Kapi’i as the voice of Colossus are all returning from prior installments of the franchise. Cast in unnamed roles are Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen.

On May 22, 2023, the movie’s primary photography in London, England, commenced. The third entry in the trilogy, which also serves as the eponymous character’s entrance to the MCU, is being directed by Shawn Levy, who previously collaborated with Reynolds on movies including “Free Guy” and “The Adam Project.” The movie’s screenplay was written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells with assistance from Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy. Prior to being moved to November 8, 2024, the movie’s scheduled release date was September 6, 2024. It will now be available on May 3, 2024. However, because of the SAG-AFTRA strike in July 2023, filming was put on hold, which is expected to have another impact on the movie’s release date.
