Things started to change gradually, though. Anthony would tell them about a strange brother who was a master spy and was always watching them. He informed Sarma that her computer had been hijacked and that she needed to contact Will Richards, one of his IT experts, and provide him with all of her passwords. In reality, Will didn’t exist; according to sources, Anthony was the one who obtained access to all of Sarma’s accounts.
Anthony has also borrowed money from Sarma on multiple occasions. He also claimed that this was part of a series of “cosmic” tests that he had to go through a few years ago. Sarma later remembered, “He assured me I’d be powerful in ways I couldn’t comprehend.” I’d have unlimited resources to extend my brand over the world and film the documentary I’d always wanted to do – the one that would ultimately change people’s views and help to end factory farming. Basically, I could do whatever it was that I had secretly wished to do to alter the world. I could help whomever I wanted for the rest of my life and stay young doing it.”
Sarma had transferred $1.6 million from her corporate account to her personal account, the majority of which Anthony had spent in casinos, according to authorities. Employees at Sarma’s restaurant knew him as Shane, and when she wasn’t in town, he pretended to be the boss. In August 2014, he stated incorrectly that he would buy Sarma’s company “on paper.” Sarma had earlier told investors that she planned to sell the company to Michael Caledonia, who turned out to be Anthony himself.

Anthony eventually guilty to four counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree. He was sentenced to time served and given a five-year probationary period. According to his lawyer, his client would like to serve his probation in Massachusetts, where he was born.
