Will Smith was later revealed to have yelled at the comedian and asked him to keep his wife’s name out of it. Smith later went on to defend his actions, saying that he felt compelled to defend his family as he tearfully accepted his best actor award. The actor received the renowned prize for his depiction of Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams, in King Richard. The actor further apologised to Academy, and all his fellow nominees as well.
