The majority of ‘Molly’s Game’ was shot in Toronto, the province of Ontario’s capital. Several interior sequences were shot on Pinewood Toronto Studios’ Stages 2, 11, and 12, which are located at 225 Commissioners Street. The courtroom sequences when Molly’s trial takes place were filmed within the production facility. Parts of the structure appear to have been used as part of Charlie’s Manhattan office. Citigroup Place, at 123 Front Street West, does, however, serve as the location of Molly’s attorney Charlie’s office in the film. The scenes in the lawyer’s office lobby were shot at the Toronto Dominion Center, also known as the TD Center, which is located at 66 Wellington Street West in Toronto.
Several stylishly extravagant cafes were also visited by the film team for a few parts of the Jessica Chastain blockbuster. Molly’s appointment with a literary agent about her book took place at Katana on Bay, which was originally known as Blowfish on Bay. The restaurant, which was located at 333 Bay Street, has since been permanently closed. Bardi’s Steak House at 56 York Street and Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar at 365 Bay Street is said to have been used for a few sequences. These locations appear to have been used for sequences in which Molly is confronted by a gang of mobsters.
Molly’s first job was in the South Californian metropolis of Los Angeles, and it was here that she began her business. The production team traveled to the corner of Bayview Avenue and Belsize Drive in Toronto’s Leaside district to film the sequences set in and around the aforementioned place in the film. Molly’s first office was located at 1560 Bayview Avenue in a commercial building.
Other Locations in Ontario
Aside from the city of Toronto, numerous sequences were shot in Collingwood, Ontario, in Simcoe County. However, the sequences simulating the same were shot at the Beaver Valley Ski Club in Markdale, Grey County, southern Ontario, near 100 Pioneer Drive.
New York
Given that the tale is set in New York for a large section of the film, several major scenes were shot with the city as the backdrop. Molly skates through the Wollman Rink between East 62nd and East 63rd Streets in Central Park in Manhattan while waiting for Charlie in the film. Molly reconciles with her father, Larry Bloom (Kevin Costner), on a bench near the rink in the film. The Plaza Hotel at 750 Fifth Avenue and Grand Army Plaza at the junction of Fifth Avenue and Central Park South are two more locales in the city that appear in ‘Molly’s Game.’
